Southwest Airlines' Boeing 737 MAX 7s To Debut In March 2027 With 13 More Seats Than Its -700s
Southwest Airlines plans to bring the Boeing 737 MAX 7 into passenger service in March 2027 as part of its fleet modernization. An internal rollout document reported by View From The Wing says the first aircraft should arrive later in 2026 and feature new seats, Wi-Fi, in-seat power, and larger overhead bins. The MAX 7 will carry 13 more seats than Southwest’s current 737-700s, with an initial plan to operate 27 already-built aircraft before more deliveries. Deliveries are expected to start in December 2026, with additional examples arriving from February 2027. The FAA granted type certification for the 737 MAX 7 on August 3, 2026, enabling deliveries to begin. Southwest’s configuration calls for 150 Recaro seats, Starlink connectivity, and three lavatories.
