State and national pride take flight at Great State of Maine Air Show
State and national pride take flight at Great State of Maine Air Show describes how the Great State of Maine Air Show put U.S. Navy Blue Angels front and center at Brunswick Executive Airport. On Sunday, the Blue Angels’ lead demonstration was flown by Lt. Cmdr. Connor O’Donnell from Freeport, while the team support aircraft, a 130J Super Hercules nicknamed Fat Albert, was maintained by Sgt. Bryan Riquier of Durham. Aviation structural mechanic Kaleigh Temple, originally from Bowdoinham, worked on the Super Hornets. The crowd of more than 20,000 over the two-day event—reported by the Air Show Network—watched a 45-minute performance in which the jets formed a diamond and performed head-on passes over the audience. The Royal Air Force Red Arrows were also listed as a highly anticipated attraction. The show was sold out on both Saturday and Sunday.
