Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport cancels 760 flights during Typhoon Bavi | Taiwan News | Jul. 11, 2026 15:18
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport canceled 760 flights because Typhoon Bavi hit on Saturday, according to Taiwan News, with two additional arrivals expected from Vietnam later in the evening. An airport meeting on Saturday morning brought together representatives from the airport, airlines and ground services to step up safety patrols and reduce the risk of damage during the storm, the Liberty Times reported. The meeting also covered plans to resume services on Sunday. The cancellations affected both passenger and cargo flights scheduled for Saturday, while the exceptions were two passenger services from Vietnam expected after the worst of the typhoon had passed. Vietnam Airlines flights VN570 from Ho Chi Minh City and VN578 from Hanoi were scheduled to arrive in Taoyuan at 9:05 p.m. and five minutes later, carrying a combined 307 passengers. The airport asked China Airlines, which has a code-share with Vietnam Airlines, to stay in close contact as the typhoon’s track and intensity could still change.
