Tennessee pulls away from Georgia Tech for 45-24 win

No. 18 Tennessee rallied from an early deficit to beat Georgia Tech 45-24 in the Vols’ first road game of the season on Saturday. The team improved to 2-0 behind DeSean Bishop, who produced a career day with 147 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. After Georgia Tech took a 10-7 lead late in the first quarter, Tennessee responded with 24 unanswered points. Dejuan Lane returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown, and freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon connected with Braylon Staley for a 20-yard score to give the Vols a 24-10 halftime advantage. Bishop added both second-half TD runs, and Daune Morris closed with a 47-yard score. The win marked Josh Heupel’s 47th program victory, moving him past Doug Dickey for sixth. Tennessee hosts Kennesaw State next Saturday at 7:45 p.m.
