Transtasman flights get winter boost
Transtasman flights get winter boost as Air New Zealand increases capacity and extends a thrice-weekly service between Australia’s east coast and Queenstown for the season. The service, launched last week, will run until October 23. Air NZ short haul and domestic general manager Lucy Hall said the airline has increased capacity by 40% this winter from Australia’s east coast to Queenstown. The carrier said the additional seats will make it easier for New Zealanders to reach Brisbane and Queensland and will support tourism in the South. Hall also framed the timing around the July school holiday period in both countries, running from Saturday until July 19, during which Air NZ expects to welcome more than 730,000 customers across its domestic and international network, with Queenstown leading domestic destinations. The article adds that Jetstar also added a winter route between Queenstown and Brisbane, operating three times a week through late September.
