Travelers Face More Delays After Major Disruption at British Airports

A problem with an air traffic control flight-management system triggered more than 1,000 cancellations across Britain on Tuesday, and airlines warned the disruption could last beyond the day of the glitch. On Wednesday, hundreds more flights were canceled, with major hubs including Heathrow and Gatwick still affected even after flights resumed. NATS said engineers eventually resolved the issue, but delays created knock-on effects as aircraft, crews and passengers were out of position. Flightradar24 reported 1,300 cancellations on Tuesday and about 256 on Wednesday. Some travelers were forced to wait onboard aircraft. Heathrow and Gatwick said operations would take time to normalize, while Dublin expected a full schedule after repositioning overnight.
