TSA Calls In Bomb Squad After American Airlines Passenger's Phone Shows 15-Minute Timer
A Sacramento security scare centered on a passenger's carry-on and a 15-minute timer prompted a full bomb squad response at Sacramento International Airport. TSA screening revealed an M-Type explosive device and multiple weapons in the bag of Kimani Osayande Jones, who was slated to board American Airlines flight 2464. Five working cell phones were recovered, one with a 15-minute countdown and a message reading 'we will be awaiting your call.' Sacramento County Sheriff bomb technicians and an FBI Special Agent bomb technician joined airport security to confiscate the devices and other prohibited items, including a torch lighter, knife, scissors, and zip ties. The incident led to an intensive security review and shutdowns as investigators gathered evidence. No injuries were reported, and authorities continued the investigation while Jones was detained.
