UAE AG: Flydubai Co‑Pilot Plotted 9/11‑Style 'Suicide Attack'

The UAE Attorney-General said investigators have uncovered a premeditated, 9/11-inspired suicide plot tied to the Sept. 30 attempted hijacking of Flydubai Flight FZ1073. The flight, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was to be seized by the aircraft’s co-pilot—identified as 29-year-old Omani Hamam al-Hammami—and used to crash into Ben Gurion Airport’s passenger terminal to cause the “greatest possible loss of life.” Officials said the attack plan developed from radicalization beginning in 2017 while he studied in Melbourne, where he engaged with extremist content and later attended a mosque affiliated with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and met individuals linked to a group called My Centre.
