Ukraine targets Russian industrial facilities with drones
Ukraine targeted Russian industrial facilities with drones overnight, as Moscow reported that 249 aerial objects were shot down across multiple regions. Kyiv acknowledged strikes on facilities across several areas, with debris from a downed drone falling onto the site of a chemical plant in Novomoskovsk in the Tula region. Unconfirmed video footage and social-media reports suggested a fire at the Asot facility, one of Russia’s largest chemical plants, which primarily produces fertilizer but also supplies components for ammunition production. Local authorities did not immediately disclose the extent of damage or health risks to residents.
In the Yaroslavl region, Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said a drone attack hit industrial facilities used for fuel storage, causing a fire but no injuries. Moscow authorities closed Zhukovsky Airport and imposed restrictions at Domodedovo Airport after air-raid alerts. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said several drone attacks had been repelled. Ukraine has intensified long-range drone strikes against Russia’s industrial sector, which Kremlin officials say remains under firm control despite fuel shortages reported in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tatarstan; the situation in Crimea remains fragile but under control according to Moscow.
