Ukrainian midrange drones reshape the battlefield by targeting Russian supply lines
Ukrainian midrange drones are increasingly shaping the battlefield by targeting Russian supply lines and logistics routes, according to an Associated Press report from Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. Pilots use thermal images to watch roads that sustain Russian forces and then dive aircraft toward targets intended to disrupt supplies behind the front. Kat, commander of Ukraine’s K-2 brigade that operates midrange drones, said the goal is to cut logistics so infantry on the front line lacks essentials such as food, ammunition, and batteries. The article describes a corridor of 25 to 200 kilometers where Russian troops previously moved with relative freedom, now increasingly pressured by fixed-wing midrange drones equipped with Starlink communications. Ukrainian operators say they launched 800 midrange drones in May, with 650 striking intended targets. Analysts say Ukraine must sustain pressure while Russia develops countermeasures.
