Ultralight crash-lands in Door County; only minor injuries reported
An ultralight aircraft crashed the evening of July 26 in the Town of Liberty Grove, according to the Door County Sheriff’s Office. The pilot and a passenger reported only minor injuries after the incident near 9956 Eagle Lane, south of Door County Q and just east of Ephraim. Dispatchers received the crash report at 7:41 p.m., with the aircraft found upside down in a field. An initial investigation suggested the plane departed Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport in Fish Creek for a planned one-hour flight, then returned when it experienced an apparent engine failure. During an emergency landing about two miles from the airport, the aircraft overturned. Deputies said both occupants had minor cuts and scrapes and declined hospital transport. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
