A planned United Airlines 9/11 memorial flyover in Denver has been canceled after a coordination breakdown among United Airlines, local authorities and the Air National Guard, the New York Times reported. The plan called for one United Boeing 777 to depart Denver International Airport at 8:15 a.m., then fly over the airline’s Flight Training Center around 9:03 a.m.—timed to the anniversary moment of UA Flight 93’s crash in Pennsylvania. The aircraft was to be escorted by four F-16 Fighting Falcons from the ANG’s 120th Fighter Squadron. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s office said the city was informed, not asked, and emergency management had alerted residents to avoid confusion.
