United Airlines Flight Attendants Injured as Severe Turbulence Hits Hawaii-to-LAX Flight
Four United Airlines flight attendants were injured after severe turbulence struck a Boeing 777 during descent on United Flight 1157, flying from Honolulu to Los Angeles. The aircraft dropped more than 3,500 feet in a single minute at one point, and flight data reviewed by The Post shows a descent as steep as 3,675 feet in one minute during the final roughly 20 minutes. The flight landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday night after departing Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. At least two crew members suffered neck and back injuries; one was taken to a hospital. United said no customers were injured. Passengers reported sudden shaking, a loud bang, and that the drop threw people upward; wake turbulence was suspected based on flight audio, and the aircraft arrived about 20 minutes late.
