United Airlines has confirmed it has no interest in buying the Boeing 777X, despite rumors linking it to a rejected order held by Emirates. The airline also said it is not looking to take possession of up to 20 early-built 777X airframes that were manufactured between 2019 and 2021. Emirates turned them down after chairman Sir Tim Clark criticized them as outdated “like a can of baked beans,” and said their age would require major upgrades and certification work before delivery. With Boeing’s certification delays contributing to the situation, the aircraft’s future remains uncertain, though other airlines could still step in.
