United Airlines is preparing to scrap Airbus A320 N470UA, damaged at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) after a catering truck strike. The aircraft has been parked at the airport since May, with records classifying the rear-fuselage damage as “damaged beyond repair” following the May 16 incident. Recent photos show United branding covered and the engines removed as the jet is stripped of components. Flight records indicate the A320 arrived into DCA on May 16 (operating United UA1369 from Chicago O’Hare), but its scheduled return was canceled. The plane is an A320-232 built in 2001 and delivered to United in March 2001.
