United UA941 Returns to Heathrow After Emergency Declaration
United Airlines Flight UA941 returned to London Heathrow on Oct. 15 after the crew declared a general emergency at 32,000 feet over Manchester. The Boeing 767-300ER landed around 6 p.m. local time, ending its planned trip to Newark before the Atlantic crossing, according to The Standard and Aviation A2Z. Tracking data showed the aircraft looping over Manchester before heading back to London, with Aviation A2Z identifying it as a 767-300ER registered as N686UA. The crew transmitted transponder code 7700, the emergency signal used when an aircraft is not radar-identified. Reports said the crew initially considered releasing about 20 tonnes of fuel but later abandoned that plan. Ground crews met the jet after a safe landing; no official passenger-injury update was included.
