Unusual vibration' felt before plane crash that killed Austin tech leader Joshua Baer, NTSB says

New details from an NTSB preliminary report describe how pilots on a NetJets-operated flight first noticed an “unusual vibration” before a fatal June 16 crash near Laredo killed Austin tech entrepreneur Joshua Baer. During early flight, pilots told crew contacts that the vibration sounded like a fan and could be felt in the dashboard; after they contacted NetJets and maintenance, the noise reportedly stopped and instruments later pointed to a cooling fan as the cause. As the aircraft neared the U.S.-Mexico border, pilots received multiple messages including low fuel pressure in the right engine, then prepared for an emergency landing. Permission to land in Laredo was granted, but both engines lost power and the plane crashed on Loop 20, several miles short of the airport. The main pilot suffered serious injuries; the co-pilot and three passengers had minor injuries, and the driver of an impacted vehicle also had minor injuries. NetJets said the report contains no probable cause findings.
