VIDEO: Diezani Madueke Breaks Silence After London Court Cleared Her of All Bribery Charges

Former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke has been acquitted of all corruption-related charges by a London court, ending a legal saga that spanned more than a decade. The jury delivered a unanimous not-guilty verdict on Wednesday at Southwark Crown Court after a trial that began in January 2026. Prosecutors had alleged she accepted bribes and conspired to commit bribery, claiming she received more than £100,000 and various benefits including private jet travel, chauffeur-driven cars, luxury goods, use of a London property and payment of her son’s school fees. She faced the case alongside Ayinde Olatimbo Bukola and Agama Doye. Speaking after the verdict, Alison-Madueke described the result as a vindication of her innocence, saying, 'I am deeply relieved. My name is cleared. This nightmare is over.' She reflected on the toll the case took on her and her family. While acquitted in the UK, she still faces separate corruption and money-laundering proceedings in Nigeria, where legal action continues.
