Vietnam Explores Sustainable Aviation Fuel Development at International Conference in Hanoi
Vietnam is exploring sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development through a policy-focused conference in Hanoi attended by government officials, regulators, airlines, fuel suppliers and technology providers. The International Conference on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Policy Frameworks and Market Development in Asia, held on June 25, 2026, was jointly organized by the Global Centre for Green Fuels (GCGF) and the Vietnam Academy of Construction Strategy and Cadres Training under the Ministry of Construction, with support from the Asia Pacific Sustainable Aviation Centre (APSAC). Vice Minister Le Anh Tuan emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050 and said SAF should be pursued via a roadmap tailored to Vietnam’s needs, balancing emissions reduction, energy security and competitiveness. Keynote remarks from ICAO’s Asia-Pacific office highlighted SAF’s role within ICAO’s net-zero by 2050 goal for international aviation. Discussions covered policy frameworks, certification, market development, technology pathways and supply chains, including Vietnam’s potential role in regional SAF value chains.
