WATCH | Passenger on Malta Air-operated flight sucked out of plane window
Reports of a passenger on a Malta Air-operated flight sucked out of a plane window focus on the emergency involving a Ryanair Boeing 737 shortly after takeoff from Greece. According to Greek and German media accounts, a passenger reportedly became partially dislodged through a cracked cabin window during a Friday morning flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany. The aircraft was an 18-year-old Boeing 737 operated by Malta Air, Ryanair’s Maltese subsidiary. Witnesses said the Serbian man, believed to be in his 60s, hung head-first out of the aircraft up to his shoulders for several minutes before fellow passengers pulled him back inside. Ryanair said the aircraft returned to Thessaloniki shortly after takeoff after “a passenger window dislodged inflight,” and that it landed normally. Passengers returned to the terminal, and one passenger received medical assistance on the ground. A replacement aircraft was later arranged to continue the trip, while the Irish Aviation Authority said it is coordinating with Greek and Maltese investigators.
