WestJet strike is over -- but your flight may still be cancelled

WestJet says its 24-hour strike has ended after reaching a tentative agreement with CUPE 8125, covering 4,400 flight attendants. The deal was reached on Monday after the Aug. 3 agreement between WestJet and the union, but it still requires a ratification vote by union members. Even with the strike over, WestJet cautioned that disruptions could continue through Wednesday as it works to restore its network. The airline positioned the update as a transition period rather than an immediate return to normal operations, leaving travelers at risk of ongoing cancellations and schedule changes while staffing and routes are rebuilt.
