Investigators say debris from a Learjet 60 crash in Florida shows signs of an in-flight breakup. NTSB officials reported that the left tail elevator—the pitch control—was found in three separate pieces scattered as far as 3.8 miles from the crash site. Federal investigators recovered one piece in three segments, including one found nearly four miles away. The jet departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport around 10:37 a.m. and went down in Palm Beach County just before 1 p.m., killing all nine aboard plus the nanny and two other passengers named in family accounts. Investigators said weather is a major focus, including reported icing and moderate turbulence near 35,000 feet, and they have not yet found the cockpit voice recorder.
