Who hired bucket hat bomber? Oligarch blown up sanctioned by Ukraine
The investigation into a Monaco bombing centers on who hired a bucket-hat man after a Ukrainian sanctioned oligarch was seriously wounded in an apparent attempted murder. Monday night in Monaco, a man wearing a bucket hat was captured on CCTV fleeing toward Beausoleil, France, after a booby-trapped backpack exploded at the entrance of Vadym Iermolaiev’s apartment building around 9 p.m. Prosecutors are treating the attack as attempted murder rather than terrorism. Iermolaiev, sanctioned by Kyiv for allegedly trading wine in Russian-occupied Crimea, was left fighting for his life, and a woman described by media reports as his companion also suffered life-threatening injuries. Police say more than 100 officers are pursuing the suspect, amid speculation involving criminal networks and possible regional political fallout.
