Who were the two pilots who flew the Air India jet that crashed?
Indian accident investigators have advanced toward the final stages of their probe into last year’s deadly Air India crash involving a Boeing 787 shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India, which killed 260 people. A court filing said investigators prepared a cockpit voice recorder transcript and conducted a psychological autopsy, but it did not identify the subject or disclose psychological findings. The filing also did not provide new conclusions about the crash itself. It included preliminary profiles of the two pilots. Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, 56, held an airline transport pilot licence valid until 14 May 2026, with 15,638 total flight hours including 8,596 on a 787. First Officer Clive Kunder, 32, had a commercial licence issued in 2020 valid until 26 September 2025, with 3,403 total hours and 1,128 as a 787 co-pilot. Their experience involved clearances on multiple aircraft types.
