Wisconsin Rep. Tom Tiffany suffers minor injuries when his plane makes an emergency landing in a lake

U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany said he suffered minor injuries after an aircraft made an emergency landing on Lake Wausau in central Wisconsin on Saturday night. Tiffany, a Republican gubernatorial candidate, said he was returning home from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner in Onalaska when the plane lost power approaching Wausau Downtown Airport. He said the pilot carried out a water landing, and both called 911 as the aircraft began to submerge. Tiffany and the pilot exited and swam to shallow water while they waited for responders, according to Tiffany’s post on X. Authorities from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the State Patrol responded; the investigation would be turned over to the FAA. Tiffany was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The FAA investigation is ongoing, and the plane will be marked with a buoy, officials said.
