Woman Widowed By Miami Plane Crash Sues Amazon Over Worker's Death

A widow in Miami has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Amazon, cargo airline 21 Air, the plane’s lessors, and the two pilots, seeking accountability for the death of her husband, Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Miami-Dade County after Amazon Air Flight 7598 overshot the runway and crashed into a van carrying a cleaning crew that was finishing its last job. The complaint alleges multiple failures contributed to the crash. Attorneys say Naranjo died on impact and is survived by his wife and their 22-year-old son. Lawyers allege confusion in the cockpit, including that thrusters were fully engaged 15 seconds before impact and no emergency was declared. The NTSB is investigating, with chair Jennifer Homendy describing the scene as “utter devastation.”
