Years since Hampshire plane crash that fulfilled boy's chilling premonition

An eight-year-old boy’s premonition was fulfilled during a light aircraft crash in Hampshire, recalling an incident from 20 years ago this summer. In August 2006, Stewart Cross, then 44 and landlord of the Platform Tavern in Southampton, arranged a “double birthday” surprise flight for his fiancée Amanda Boughton and her son Marco. The family boarded a four-seater Piper at Popham Airfield and moments after takeoff the aircraft fell from the sky. Marco reportedly told his family before boarding that he “didn’t like little planes” and that they were going to crash. Stewart later said the plane “sounded and felt wrong” shortly after leaving the tarmac at Micheldever, as it struggled to gain altitude and the pilot warned, “Something is wrong… I cannot control the plane. We are going to crash.” A crosswind then lifted the aircraft away from trees and a busy road, landing on grass, though the narrative cuts off mid-description of damage to the undercarriage.
