You've never flown like this. Emirates rolls out new kind of headrest describes Emirates expanding a new Economy Class headrest intended to reduce side-to-side “bobbing” during sleep. The carrier is introducing the padded leather U-Dream Headrest, built by Safran Seats, which adjusts vertically and includes fold-down “wings” that cradle passengers’ heads and necks. Emirates says the headrests are already installed on three of its A350 aircraft and will be rolled out more widely “as quickly as possible.” The airline plans installation across Economy Class on all A350s and on most A380s and Boeing 777s, though route assignments can vary. Emirates also stated the headrests have been independently tested to meet EASA safety standards and described cleaning procedures between flights, including wipe-downs and replacement of covers.
