Zelenskyy: Some airlines have started cancelling flights to Russia

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that some airlines have started refusing to operate flights to Russia after his warning about drone threats in Russian airspace. In his evening address, Zelenskyy told viewers that the first carriers had begun declining to fly to airports rusos following Ukraine’s warning, calling it the “correct and entirely logical response.” He said Ukraine has informed international organizations and partners about the actual situation in Russian airspace. The comments build on Zelenskyy’s statement on 1 September that Russian airspace had become completely unsafe for aviation, and on the Kremlin’s response earlier that such threats amounted to “state terrorism.” Ukraine’s foreign minister, Andrii Sybiha, added on 2 September that Ukraine formally informed the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) that increased military activity made Russian airspace dangerous for civilian flights.
