Alaska fishing community, the Dan Sullivan episode takes an ominous turn as FBI comes knocking
A fishing community in Petersburg, Alaska, is facing new legal scrutiny in the race for U.S. Senate as federal investigators visited contributors to Dan J. Sullivan’s campaign. The longtime absence of Dan J. Sullivan from public view follows FBI interviews with donors, including Sharon Hunter, who said she and her husband donated $1,000 to the former elementary school teacher. The Trump administration is reportedly weighing criminal charges tied to a campaign tactic described as “ballot stacking,” which seeks to recruit spoiler candidates. The incumbent Sullivan is fighting Democrat Mary Peltola, whose campaign denies involvement. A federal lawsuit to block election certification was dismissed Sunday, and earlier ballot challenges were overturned in state court.
