Arkansas offering new online fuel transportation permit system | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Arkansas is moving to an online fuel transportation permit system, replacing the state’s paper-based process starting Wednesday. The Arkansas Department of Transportation said the new platform can automatically issue an electronic permit once applicants complete and submit required information. The agency expects the switch to reduce administrative burdens tied to handling and maintaining paper permits. In 2025, the existing system processed more than 106,000 import and export fuel permits, with carriers required to manage and submit multiple paper copies. Arkansas will keep paper permits available as a backup during internet outages, device failures, or other technical problems. The department will also continue processing legacy paper permits while encouraging carriers to use the online option.
