Arkansas offering new online fuel transportation permit system | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
Arkansas is rolling out an online fuel transportation permit system to replace its current paper-based approach, with the new system beginning Wednesday. The Arkansas Department of Transportation said the platform can automatically issue an electronic permit after an applicant submits the required details. Officials said the shift is intended to ease administrative workloads related to producing, maintaining, and processing paper permits. The state noted that the existing system handled more than 106,000 import and export fuel permits in 2025, requiring carriers to keep and submit multiple paper copies for every transport. Paper permits will remain available during internet outages, device failures, or other technical disruptions. The highway department will continue processing legacy paper permits but urged carriers to use the online service.
