Arlington Police lieutenant Ja’Nae McGee is serving as the only female SWAT commander across all 16 FIFA World Cup host cities, a role shaped by years of preparation. McGee joined the SWAT team in 2022 and has led 45 officers while ensuring the unit is equipped for emergencies during the tournament. In North Texas, FIFA organizers estimate about four million people will be hosted during the World Cup, with nine matches scheduled at Dallas Stadium in Arlington. The Arlington Police Department is coordinating with federal and local partners, including the FBI and DPS, as well as Mansfield. Training has included a large-scale Metro simulation of a “drone attack.” France plays Spain in a semi-final at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday, July 14.
