Bass Nation - Fort Peck
Fort Peck Bass Nation event marks the Montana B.A.S.S. Nation calendar this September, opening with a two-day team-format competition on Fort Peck Reservoir. Boats depart at safe light from the host ramp each morning, with daily weigh-ins conducted at the end of each day. Five-fish limits with a 14-inch minimum, live-release, and standard B.A.S.S. Nation safety rules apply. Fort Peck Reservoir spans about 134,000 acres along the Missouri River in northeast Montana, renowned nationally for smallmouth bass in the upper reaches and largemouth in the bays, making it a demanding fall test for a team event.
The tournament serves as the on-ramp to the B.A.S.S. Nation National Championship and ultimately the Bassmaster Classic, highlighting the federation's ladder for Montana anglers seeking to advance. Fall conditions at Fort Peck—cooling water and shifting bait—present dynamic challenges that test team coordination and strategic decision-making. Participants compete under safety and live-release standards that support conservation while pursuing qualification. The Fort Peck format underscores Montana's active fishing scene and the role of B.A.S.S. Nation in developing regional tournament talent.
