Boat trips, swimming and seafood: 10 of the UK's best harbour towns and villages - AOL
Pittenweem, Carnlough, Solva and Craster are among 10 UK harbour towns and villages highlighted for boat trips, swimming and seafood. In East Neuk, Pittenweem’s working fishing port has about 30 small trawlers and creel boats, with daily catches sold at a covered quay market and served at venues such as Dory Bistro, Chip Ahoy and the Larachmhor pub. Its Victorian swimming pool reopened in 2021 after help from the West Braes Project. Visitors can also join an early-August arts festival with exhibits by nearly 200 artists. The Fife Coastal Path links nearby St Monans, Anstruther and Crail. Across the UK, Carnlough’s 1853 harbour and boat trips cost £10 adults and £6 children, while Solva’s tide-dependent landscape draws paddleboarders at high water and swimmers at low tide.
