Boats catch fire, 1 sinks in Huntington Beach
xCruzo Brief
Two boats caught fire Wednesday in Huntington Beach, sending a thick plume of smoke over the harbor. The Huntington Beach Fire Department responded at about 1 p.m. to a blaze at a residential dock in the 16,000 block of Ardsley Circle. No injuries were reported. Firefighters protected nearby boats and buildings while battling the flames using a boat-mounted water cannon and hose lines. The boats were tied together and no one was aboard. One vessel—a 40-foot boat—appeared to sink in its slip. A containment boom was deployed to manage diesel fuel, with California’s Office of Spill Prevention and Response estimating a maximum potential of 450 gallons. The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles–Long Beach also responded.
