Boy, 13, Wounded In Portage Park Drive-By Shooting

A 13-year-old boy was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Portage Park on Monday evening, police said. Shortly after 8 p.m., the teen was standing outside in the 6000 block of West Montrose Avenue when a person in a dark-colored SUV fired shots, striking him in the left leg. The Chicago Fire Department treated the boy at the scene, and police said he was transported to Lutheran General Hospital. Authorities reported that he is currently in “good condition.” Police also said no arrests have been made and that the incident remains under investigation. The shooting is now part of an active inquiry by local authorities as they work to identify the vehicle and suspect.
