California Beaches face dangerous 16 foot waves
xCruzo Brief
California’s Pacific coastline and the San Francisco Bay Area face a hazardous weekend warning as forecasters predict waves up to 16 feet along parts of the shore. The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement warning that breaking waves could increase the risk of rip currents and sneaker waves, which can surge farther up the beach with little warning. The advisory is expected to remain in effect until 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12. Officials urged beachgoers to stay away from the water’s edge and avoid structures such as jetties, piers, and coastal rocks, where waves can wash over exposed areas.
