Cam Heyward calls out Steelers fans burning Joey Porter jerseys
Cameron Heyward addressed the backlash after the Pittsburgh Steelers made a “midnight” trade involving cornerback Joey Porter Jr., a move that separated the team from a player tied to the franchise’s Hall of Honor through his father. As videos circulated online showing fans burning Porter’s jersey, Heyward used his podcast, “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward,” to criticize the reaction. The Steelers veteran said he understands the emotion behind contract disputes and that players want them resolved, but insisted fans shouldn’t destroy jerseys. “Like, grow up. This is just a waste of money,” Heyward said, adding that burning gear doesn’t send a good message. The trade leaves Pittsburgh’s secondary exposed, with the Cleveland Browns capitalizing in Week 4, and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham tasked with repairs before the Indianapolis Colts.
