Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles breaks down competition at left tackle

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles says the left tackle position is still an open competition as training camp begins. After last season’s offensive line improvements—sparked by Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson and Drew Dalman—Chicago reduced sacks allowed and enhanced its rushing, while Darnell Wright has already solidified the right tackle role. For left tackle, Poles indicated a group of Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet and Jedrick Wills Jr. will compete for the starting spot, alongside Ozzy Trapilo and Kiran Amegadjie. Trapilo is recovering from a serious knee injury suffered in the playoffs. In the first practice, Jones worked with the first-team offense, Amegadjie with the second, and Wills followed, as Benedet took right tackle reps with the second unit.
