Children dead after boat capsizes in storm on Wisconsin's Geneva Lake
Children were killed after a recreational boat capsized on Geneva Lake in southeastern Wisconsin during a fast-moving severe storm on July 3, according to authorities. The boat had 10 people aboard—six adults and four children—when strong winds and heavy waves rapidly worsened conditions on the lake. Officials said the vessel attempted to return to shore but was overwhelmed, taking on water before capsizing and sinking. Emergency responders rescued six adults and one child, while a search began after three children were reported missing. The children were later recovered and transported to area hospitals, where they were pronounced dead. Investigators from the Geneva Lake Law Enforcement Agency and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are reviewing the circumstances; authorities have not released victim identities pending family notification.
