Cold Case: Search for justice in 78-year-old Marine veteran's murder enters 5th year
A cold case in Snohomish County remains unsolved five years after the murder of 78-year-old Marine veteran Ivan Maik. Investigators say Maik was killed on April 10, 2021, inside his own vehicle after stopping at an ATM en route to a dialysis clinic. Witnesses heard gunfire; surveillance shows a dark-colored, older-model SUV—possibly a Land Rover/Range Rover or a dark Jeep with silver wheels—at the scene. Detectives initially considered a robbery motive, but police later indicated the case may have been targeted. No suspect has been identified, and the crime remains under active review. Crime Stoppers offers a $25,000 reward; Maik’s daughter added $24,000 to raise the total reward to $25,000. Jim Fuda of Crime Stoppers urged anyone with information to come forward; Arlington Police are cooperating with local agencies, and the case remains active.
