Convertible‑style speedboat weaves through Victoria Harbour on National Day night
A widely shared video shows a speedboat styled like a Rolls Royce convertible cruising through Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour on the night of 1 October, with head and tail lights glowing as it weaves between sightseeing boats. The clip—posted on social platforms including Threads—sparks mixed reactions, including questions over licensing and insurance, and some viewers allege irregular navigation lights. The craft appears to carry three people and moves among larger powerboats and harbour ferries, during National Day crowd and water-traffic controls. The Marine Department had designated a central Victoria Harbour spectator zone from 6:00pm to about 9:00pm for fireworks watchers, with rules on lifejackets, child supervision, and keeping passenger/crew lists; spot checks and prosecutions were promised. Authorities have been asked for information. Separately, Hong Kong and Guangdong regulators agreed on “southbound” and “northbound” cross-boundary sailing arrangements on 28 September, with first southbound trips expected in October.
