Cornwall's prettiest village named and it's not Port Isaac or Mousehole
xCruzo Brief
St Mawes, a picturesque village on Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula, has been named Britain’s “loveliest” seaside village, according to The Telegraph. The fishing community beat well-known spots such as Port Isaac and Mousehole, and remains less crowded thanks to its location on the peninsula. The village also carries royal ties: Queen Elizabeth II reportedly visited during tours on the Royal Yacht Britannia. St Mawes is anchored by St Mawes Castle, a circular fortification designed in a cloverleaf pattern, with a four-storey tower overlooking the Fal estuary. Visitors can combine the walk from the Celtic Holy Well and St Just’s Church gardens with a six-mile route along Carrick Roads, ending at the castle, plus ferry links from Falmouth.
