Council steps up action to tackle anti-social behaviour
Council steps up action to tackle anti-social behaviour by backing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week from June 29 to July 5. Mid Sussex District Council will use enforcement, public engagement and collaboration with Sussex Police to highlight ongoing work aimed at safer neighbourhoods. Cllr Anne-Marie Cooke, cabinet member for communities and communications, said residents deserve to feel safe and that the council is taking practical steps to reduce harm. The council is urging people to report incidents to help identify trends and target resources. A key focus is anti-social car cruising, including areas on the A2300 off Jobs Lane in Burgess Hill and the Birches Industrial Estate in East Grinstead. A renewed Public Spaces Protection Order has cut complaints in Burgess Hill by almost 60% since 2020. Sussex Police and the council will host outreach events on July 1 in Burgess Hill, July 2 in Haywards Heath, and July 3 in East Grinstead.
