Cowboys acquire disgruntled cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from Steelers for 2 draft picks
The Dallas Cowboys acquired disgruntled cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from the Pittsburgh Steelers for two draft picks, including a sixth-rounder in 2027 and a second-round pick in 2028. Porter said his back feels better and that it was his decision to miss the Steelers’ first three games during a contract dispute. Now 72 hours after arriving at Dallas headquarters, he is expected to debut Sunday against the Houston Texans, though team officials want to assess his conditioning and the mental load of learning a new scheme. Porter was inactive for all three games in Pittsburgh and is in the final year of his 2024 rookie deal. Dallas also made secondary moves, placing Jalen Thompson on injured reserve with a return designation and signing practice-squad defensive backs. The trade is the second major exchange between the Cowboys and Steelers in two years.
