Cowboys' Brian Schottenheimer drops truth bomb on left tackle battle in training camp

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer initially named Tyler Guyton the starting left tackle, but he later clarified that the job isn’t finalized. Tyler Guyton remains the favorite, yet rookie Nate Thomas is still in the running, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported. Archer wrote that Schottenheimer wanted to “clarify things at LT,” noting Guyton “has not won the job yet” and that there is a competition, but Thomas must perform better to make it truly legitimate. Guyton, listed with an elbow issue, is expected to practice after being limited earlier. Schottenheimer’s focus is tied to keeping Dak Prescott upright in the pocket. Guyton has played 25 games for Dallas since joining in 2024, starting 21, including all 10 appearances in 2025 before an ankle injury ended his season early.
