Crews respond after CSX train derailment in Coweta County; no injuries or spills, spokesperson says
CSX crews responded after a CSX train derailment in Coweta County, Georgia, with the railroad saying there were no injuries and no hazardous-material releases. The company’s spokesperson said that shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday, the wheelset of one intermodal railcar derailed near Herring Road in unincorporated Newnan. According to CSX, the railcar remained upright and in line. The spokesperson added that there were no injuries and no hazmat leaks or spills. CSX said its crews were working to restore freight service safely and quickly while the cause is investigated. Coweta County’s 911/Emergency Management Agency reported on social media that Herring Road at Palomino Drive was closed until further notice due to railroad maintenance, urging drivers to use alternate routes.
