SSE has chosen Seaway7 as its preferred supplier for the 1.4GW Berwick Bank B offshore wind project, in an agreement expected to support 465 UK jobs. The deal covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) work for turbine foundations and subsea inter-array cables, SSE said. Of the 465 roles, around 160 are estimated to be direct jobs at Seaway7’s Aberdeen base, plus 105 indirect roles across the UK supply chain. SSE added that about 200 more direct and indirect positions are expected via turbine foundation marshalling at a Scottish port. Construction is targeted in the outer Firth of Forth, roughly 38km off the Scottish Borders. Final contract award and SSE’s final investment decision are due late next year.
