Delta could add more gates at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport through Spirit bankruptcy deal
Delta Air Lines could take control of two additional gates at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport through a proposed agreement tied to Spirit Airlines’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. Court filings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York say Spirit seeks approval to assign its lease for Gates C4 and C6, plus ticketing lobby and support space, to Delta for a one-time $12 million assignment fee. Spirit entered the Atlanta airport lease in 2017, with the lease extended through June 30, 2031. Delta would assume the rights and obligations through June 2031, and Spirit would pay about $721,934 to satisfy lease cure obligations. A hearing on the motion is set for July 8 before Judge Sean H. Lane, with objections due July 1.
